Small changes, big impact: Preparing for a move

Small changes, big impact: Preparing for a move

A little bit of effort at the start of your move can pay dividends - read more to find out how.

Whether you’re thinking of moving soon or just keeping an eye on your home's potential, I find that many people are surprised by what actually adds value.

It’s rarely about big extensions or expensive renovations. Usually, it’s about the "Buyer's Eye." If you ever decide to step onto the market, here are three quick things that often lead to a faster sale and a better price:

  1. The "Front Door" Rule: Kerb appeal is real. A clean front door and clear path can set the tone before a buyer even steps inside.
  2. Define the Spaces: If a spare room has become a "dumping ground" for boxes, try to return it to its purpose (a bedroom or office). Buyers struggle to visualise space when it’s cluttered.
  3. Light & Air: It sounds simple, but cleaning windows and ensuring all lightbulbs work (and are a warm tone) makes a home feel instantly more inviting.

I’ve actually put together a full "Ready to Sell" checklist for our clients here at Roocrofts. It’s a simple one-page guide to getting the best result.

Would you like me to send a copy over to you?

Best,

If moving is starting to feel more realistic, September is a useful time to prepare. Understanding your budget, priorities and local property search now could make things much easier when the right home appears.

A move often starts long before a property is officially listed. If selling within the next few months is becoming a realistic possibility, September is a good time to work out what needs to happen first.

August does not have to be a quiet month for your property search. With the right financial preparation and viewing strategy, summer buyers can uncover opportunities others may miss.

The rental market is still growing, but the way properties are managed has changed. August is a useful time for landlords to review tenancies, rent processes and record-keeping.
